A while ago I posted a story of my sick uncle who was in a nursing home, asking me to bring him some farming newspapers.I didnt understand why, because he was not a farmer or tractor guy. When I went to see him,we talked awhile and I said I brought your news papers. He said they are not for me, they are for my friend Ben, who had to sell his farm and misses it. He said, "go out to the lunch room and get him." Then Ben came in the room, and his eyes lit up when he saw the newspapers. My uncle said, "Here, now you will have something to read." We talked about Ben's Farmall tractors, and when I left, my uncle said, "Thanks a million." My uncle passed away 2 days later. Well, the story gets better. I recieved in the mail a box from a fellow Yesterday Tractor member. In the box was a large collection of red power magazines. He said, "I read your post, and I would like Ben to have these magazines." So my wife and I took them to Ben. As he opened the box, his eyes lit up! The first magazine had an M on the front page. He said, "What a tractor, the one with the diesel could do anything. Then he saw a Super H which he said were good tractors. They had a fast high gear, good for raking hay. He saw an old Farmall with rubber tires, and explained to my wife that it used to have steel wheels, but they would cut them off and put rubber tires on them. Ben said to say thank you to Frank, and wanted me to tell him that there are other farmers in this nursing home and he will pass them around. Thanks to this site for all the nice friends we have met on here, it is so great to meet all of you, and know that there is such kindness in the world.

I love a good "feel good story" and that one is at the top of the list of "feel good" stories.
Great job John, Frank and finally Larry! The pictures really make me smile knowing that you guys went out of your way to make an almost stranger a very very happy man!

Excellent story!!! I wonder if he has access to the internet there, and if so if he could get to this site? He would probably have a blast here!!!

That is a great story! Thing I like about this site, besides all the great information, is how pleasant and thoughtful people are. I couldn't begin to imagine how much joy that reading material will bring to Ben and others at the nursing home.

Wonderful story and wonderful gestures.
Seems like when you make someone else happy, it makes you twice as happy!

Now you've done it!
I'll have to put up with Joan crying for at least an hour!
What a wonderful gift from all of you.
Thank you!

thats a great story, hope Ben enjoys time reading and looking at pictures, thanks Frank, that is what makes America great, tell Ben hello from all the tractor nuts here

Awesome! "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "it's better to give than to receive" come to mind. A former pastors wife used to say, "Once a man twice a child". Ben looks like a kid in a candy store. This one made my day...

Thanks to all of you for caring about another. Not so much of that in this old world anymore, and guys on this forum are the best.

Some years ago there was a song, "Little Things Mean a Lot". Doesn't take a big production and a lot of fanfare to make most people happy.

GREAT JOB LARRY
I've always loved your pictures - BUT these are the best yet!

Thanks to Frank too for his thoughts.

Larry, we should all be so lucky to have a friend like you when we can no longer work and are in our later years, retired but miss the days of our youth, you're a good man and I'll bet you brought more happiness to Ben then you will ever know, by thinking of him and his days farming with those great ole Farmall's !!!

Great To hear you did such a nice thing for this elderly man. Does he have any family to come see him now and again?
Not many strangers would take the time to extend a little kindness such as you have shown. you are commended !
I just wave back Hi to Ben.

I salute you, and Frank for going above and beyond your duty call. Thanks Guys for giving a bit of happiness in such a small world.

Looks like Ben's one happy man with all the Farmall magazines.

Thanks again Larry for sharing your story and photos with us.

Does Ben have access to a computer? If so, show him how to get to this site. He'll love it and probably be able to contribute!

Larry I admire the way you're always thinking of ways to help someone. You're a nice guy! If we were closer, I'd see if you'd be interested in playing some music for the friends you've made there.
