dry cell battery life (just battery life in general)...

Had a decent surprise this morning kinda mixed with ohshit...

0400, dogs are barking and someone is at the gate. Go out and it's a local hunter telling me a couple horses are out. I was still asleep so just said thanks and went back to get dressed (forgot to ask where)... Turned out 2 yearlings were in a pasture by themselves and decided they didn't like it.... Nowhere to be found..... Hadda leave for work at 0630 so was heading home. Here comes the wife with "her two boys".... I was looking all over the country and they had walked thru town and was in a little piece of grass up the street from the house. She had started her car and was backing out of the driveway to come help me look when they heard the car and came running looking for Mom's goodies...

Anyway, back to the battery... Have a 9 volt fence charger that has a dry cell 36 AH battery in it. Wanted something simple for the wife to have on hand for emergencies. Charger was cheap and the battery decent priced for a throwaway... Didn't expect either to last long and they were both priced top throw away.

Anyway, opened the charger to see which battery I needed and saw that it (and the charger) are just over 2 years old... Emergency use turned into constant use the first time she put it on a fence. 2 winters, not bad considering I get a month or so out af a car battery on the 12 volt chargers....

Still scratching my head....
