More pics-This tractor was purchaced new east of Denver,Co in '16.It was used on a dryland wheatfarm for 3 years. The original powners son purchaced a ranch up by Ridgeway Co-350 miles away on the west/other side of the state. It was hauled on theRR to GrandJunction It was then offloaded and driven the the ranch at 2 3/4 mph, took 5 days....The tractor was too tall and wide too fit the narrow gauge RR nessetating the 'roading'part. The tractor was last used in the '40s,then 'rested' behind the barn.Allthe local kids played on it,it was well known in the area. The engine was o'hauled some time in its past(no one knows for sure). It has 3 aluminum pistons(2lbs ea) and one cast iron piston(10lbs).it shakes while running.the hunt is on for a matching piston(s)If you want more info, call me.(970)874-3973 Steve

Delta Red,

Thanks so much for posting more pics! Geez, what an amazing beast of a machine!! Now that I know there is one within driving distance of us - gotta get my husband to take me to see it (even though this one has been painted. :(

The guy told my husband that the cost was 25,000 to get a new mold made up for pistons. After that, pistons cost 15,000 EACH. Like I said, NOT a poor man's tractor. GOTTA SEE IT...it is on my bucket list now.

DeltaRed,

Ooops, sorry... goofed up in my first reply! It was cylinders those costs pertained to, NOT pistons.

Cost of a mold and machining doesn't seem right.
Modern pistons are "Die cast"..once you have a
chunk of aluminum, machining should only be
a few hours!

Greygoat,
You are correct. Talking to husband last night and I messed up... I think it was 10K to get a foundry to make a new casting and 15K for the cylinder (not 25K - I was addking the two up and should not have been). And maybe that is the guy's price to sell one to someone... perhaps not his cost. *Next time, I will get the facts straight before I post.
