here is a sample of the cracks in the ground - gonna take a lotta rain to fill these. Creeks and ponds are a memory. Welcome to the new desert as it is being formed.

Well..... If you'd get out there and water that stuff 2 or 3 times a day like some of the speed/low drag folks around , you wouldn't have all them cracks and your garden'd be thrivin.......

Hope when you folks get some rain it's slow enough to soak in and do the most good without flashfloods.

Geez! I hope your area gets rain soon!

Before getting some rain in the past week and a half, our lawn looked about that brown - but the ground was not cracking up. (mn)

We had some big cracks in the ground too. I ran a hose to one of them and the water kept disappearing, then I wondered if it was going into a tile. We're finally getting some relief in these parts (NW Ohio).

I like reading these comments but:
It sure would be nice to know where the writer is located.
There is no way this old man is going to remember every ones address.
Like gtractorfan did is appreciated.

Clinton and Clay counties in MO. Can't tell you for sure the last significant rain probably mid-April. We have not had to mow grass for about two months.

I did the same thing in our yard. Sounded like a toilet flushing somewhere down there.

I know all about the big cracks in the ground. Here in Georgia we have just started getting some rain. We got a 1" and 2/10ths about 2 weeks ago but within 2 miles of me they have gotton over 8 inches. I can"t understand why it allways misses us.

I've got an elderly neighbor that told me a story about cracks. It seems he was working in the pasture years ago, he tossed his log chain on to a flat wagon. He tossed it a little to hard as it went off the other side. when it fell off it went into a crack. By the time he got around to the other side, it was down the crack and he could still hear it going down. he is quite a story teller.
