Hired this crew again, 500-600 cubic yards of hardwood mulch made today. $650/hour + trucking and wide load permits, have some of that. I bet it burns 50 gallons an hour though. It doesn't care if it's 24-36" logs, brush, chips, whatever, goes right through it. There was a decent amount of sassafrass in it from a fencerow I cleaned out this winter. Whole farm smells like it now!!

About forgot this. The grinder has a magnet in the top roller of the conveyor and metal comes down that piece of sheet metal under it and drops on the ground. My guys say they never put any metal in the brush pile. Hmmmm, a chain, railroad spike, part of a pruners, rebar and a lot more. Believe me there's a a couple 5 gallon buckets full under the grinder.

Our county recycling place has one of those grind the brush when it stacks up enough. One of the employees told me one year a part of a fire hydrant hit the grinder and flew high in the sky. I'd like to see what the cutter head looks like on those.

Just happen to work there. (Morbark) Lead man for the paint dept. We just completed "demo day" at test site. Some chippers/grinders out there would put that 1300 tub to shame. See it all and videos at Morbark.com. A 50/48 drum chipper will fill a 60' wood chip semi in 15 min (if the loader man can keep it fed!)

Mostly from my real job, I have crews bringing brush and trees back daily. It's funny how a smaller amount every day adds up fast. The fence row I took out this winter did add up to about a third of the pile though. Sassafras mulch anyone?
