i picked up another trailer 2 days ago its a 18 foot dovetail, previous owners labor had hauled it down the road with its trailer plug dragging on the road,[ he aint the sharpest tool in the box] i went to replace the plug and got called away during the process, so.. i got the lites working, but due to my crs, i cant remember does the red wire or the blue wire go in the center terminal, connector is the standard round 6 wire connecter

I like messen with peoples minds on my trailer as it is wired as per semi not RV , this way nobody can pull my trailer . When they plug in there hot wire sets the brakes up . When i first got my trailer it seamed like everybody wanted to borrow it . so before that i wired it up to suit me . And several times someone would say to me hey i tryed to use your trailer but something is wrong as when i plugged in the brakes set up and it would not move. Oh and they had not asked before hand either they were JUST GOING TO BORROW IT .

we put the brake/blue wire in the center too,

I have the large plugs on my trucks now, but you can buy the adapters that will work with both wiring of the 6 prong plugs. I carry both kinds. My stock trailers have dome lights in then, so the center hole is always hot. There are four of us here in the area that is always using the others trailers.

Kinda easy. Use a voltage checker and test each terminal on your truck then a jumper wire to the trailer wire until it puts voltage to the correct place.
I had one come unplugged around midnight in a rain storm in North Dakota. Used a short wire I had in the tool box to jump from the truck to the trailer wire. When the correct wire lighted the correct light I put it in the new plug. Wedged the trailer brake lever in the cab and checked the voltage on the plug to the wire going to the brakes.
What I figured out on the trip is that you get very wet wiring a trailer plug in a rain storm as well as to check the plug when you stop and check safety chains and tires. I did have a coupla good flash lights with me. I was also glad I had a change of duds with me.

Center connection is supposed to be aux. wire. That's the one that charges and powers the camper. Mine is wired to battery with in line fuse. Friend thought center was brakes also, but when I or his brother borrow his trailer, can't move it because brakes are fully applied!!

A HA and now you are wondering where are the brake lights. Bummer they got to be somewhere.
I will let you fret about that as I am sure someone will tell you sooner or later.

i hadn't thought of that but that is a good idea, locking the brakes when plugged into a strange plug, i have the lites correct i did those first besides its labled on the plug terminals, but this trailer has no white ground, looks like its using a black wire for that, the brakes red and blue wires are also bigger wires, just couldnt remember which went where

Guess I don't understand the logic. They just unplug and take off. Someone is gonna "borrow" your trailer they probably could care less if it has working lights/brakes or not.
