What is this bug

What part of in La do you not understand
What is this bug and how do you kill it.
About 1 to 1 1/2 inches long.

LOL I don't know what it is but I am glad it is yours not mine. The wife seen it and told me that if we get them she is moving further north.
 
Along with cinch bugs, the south has mole crikets. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get mole cricket poison. Standard stuff.
 
If it's a mole cricket they'll have stuff for it at a Home Center, good hardware, garden center or maybe even good ole TSC. It's not a one time spray and kill situation you might have to treat at several times or with different stuff to kill it in the various stages.

I grew up in subarban LI, NY and we did not have many bugs. Then moved to SC outside of Charleston for 4 yrs and "met" more bugs then I ever want to know again. We actually setup a heat rock and left out a water dish for lizards that we let live in our house to keep the bug population down.
Now we live in Maine and I am counting down the days to the first DEEP frost!

Don't know what it is but it sure is an ugly critter. My son lives east of you on the Ms coast and there sure is some ugly ctitters there.

Yes we have more bugs than you could count. Almost as bad as living in a rain forest.

Last Thursday night I was awaken after just going to sleep by a plane flying at tree top level going back and forth above my house. Got to thinking who would be out at 10pm flying like that. Realized it was the parish (county) spraying for mosquitoes. We have had 6 cases in my parish and 10 cases in the parish just to our east of west nile virus in the past 2 months.

That is one job that I would never have the nerve to do. Flying around like a crop duster at night.
 


Guess it is not one of those Crotch-Crickets...!!

Almost rminds me of the bug a DragonFly emerges from..???

my father and grandfather called em ground puppies...if you have any tiny gopher looking tunnels in clean ground...thats what made em...i used dursban on em years ago and evidently it worked...havent seen any since.

Is it doing damage? Or are you just bein a hick and wanna kill it cause you don't know what it is????? Some of them bugs do good stuff......
 
For once you're right,even a Blind Acorn finds a pig every now and then(LOL)Dung Beetles,Praying Mantis,Lady Bugs,Hornets and a whole lot more do
us humans all a favor one way or another.Even the bugs that cause problems should be left alone if they're not doing any real damage because they are most likely what the good bugs and bug eating birds live off of.

I believe it is the rare photoshop beetle. Ugly sucker.

What is it doing that is objectionable, aside from being aesthetcally challenged?
 
I've seen them before in the movies. "Alien", Alien 2", "Alien 3", and "Revenge Of The Baby Alien". None of them turned out good and everyone but Segourney Weaver always got killed. So, quietly and slowly walk to the door, open it and ease out onto the porch, and close the door, but don't slam it. Then run screaming like...
