O.T. Attaching farm gate to STEEL post

I am in the middle of having a cattle corral built / improved. It's going to have 4" concrete-filled posts along the edge to which I'll be attaching fencing. The posts are 4.5" OD. I am looking for a way to attach a regular farm gate to the steel post using some type of hinge where a metal strap goes around the post and bolts together. I have found lots of chain-link male hinge pins on the net, but they don't seem to go over 3" post diameter. I don't want to weld anything permanently since I want to be to adjust the gate up and down if needed.

Short of manufacturing something, is there anything commercially available for this? Thanks and much appreciated.

Go to your local blacksmith/welding shop and he will make you what you need and it will fit and will last! KEEP YOUR MONEY LOCAL! Armand

Good idea if it was still realistic.... "Weeellll, let me see.... Think mebbe we can do sumpin like thet fer ya...... Should be able to have it finished in 3 or 4 weeks...... Got some bigger jobs I gotta get knocked out first".....

Just make yourself some. I just take a piece of pipe that will slide over whatever you have used for the post. You want a pretty good fit. Cut a band a few inches wide off of it. Then just weld a cut off gate hinge bolt on the one side. Then cut a slice out of the band. Weld two of the gate hinge nuts, that you are not using, to the band on each side of the split. Put a smaller bolt through these welded nuts to pull them together. You now have a clamp ring with a gate hinge on it. Make two for each end and you good to go.

I can make one just about as fast as it took me to type the description of how to do it. LOL

I make them on my steel gate post. I usually used square tubing.

I would get a 5" tube with .188 wall and weld a 3/4 pin bent 90 degrees on it. Put a cap on it for the top one so the bolts don't hold the weight of the gate and turn the bottom hinge upside down to hold the gate from being lifted.

I take the screw in hinges and weld them to metal posts, the local supplier includes them with the gates. Set the gate on a wood block (hinge end) and a wagon jack (chain end) then level it up so it looks like it will swing above obstacles. Then weld some scrap chunks on the hinge and post for extra support, another chunk over the top of the hinge to keep the gate from lifting off.
