a while back I posted for some input on deciding
which way to go on color of my fleet. well i had
pretty much settled on gleaner and ih but the
Gleaner K combine and IH sold and some reasonably
priced green and yellow stuff came up for sale

and i discovered that the nearest agco dealer
wasn't open on the weekends

here is what i ended up with
JD 3300 Combine
JD 3010D Tractor

i appreciate all the insights on equipment i have
learned here

Used to be a meatpacker in this area called Esskay, and they had a slogan, "Taste the difference Quality makes", and they made some great hotdogs. You'll appreciate the green more after you drive it for a while,,,,,

Good luck with the 3010. Not trying to bring you down, but the 3 worst tractors I ever owned,in order were an IH 706 diesel,a John Deere 3010 diesel and a John Deere 730 diesel.

(quoted from post at 05:13:00 08/28/12) Nice clean looking equipment. Did you have to modify the roof structure to get the combine in?

Bubba and Marcel got a new mule... Big thing with extra long ears that would brush the top of the barn door when he went thru.....
One day Marcel got tired of it and grabbed the saw and was cuttin the top of the door frame.. Bubba come along and said "but why don't ya just dig out a couple inches of the floor?" Marcel said "dammit Bubba, ain't you ever gonna smartin up??? It's his ears that are too long, not his legs...!"

I did modify the roof supports... note the two new 2x6's. It gave me the extra three inches to get the cab in.

We've got a shed like that, its too short so there are two ruts now
for the wagon tires to drop down into about 10" deep.

Only problem is they fill up with water and freeze in the spring
nights.

I"ve had a 3300 diesel(used) since 1982. It is a little newer and has the rotary cleaner for the rad. Good little combine, just be aware that several parts are no longer available through Deere. As an example,I needed a new feeder house chain and had to source through an after market supplier. Fortunately, I bought a new set of rasp-bars shortly after the original purchase and will be installing them this winter.
