Anyone have or had any of the harbor freight stuff???? I figure china is china and like the idea of the batteries interchanging. Will never have a real big job that 2 batteries won't finish up. Just saw HF has some sales. Or do you think it's just a complete waste of money????

cant answer for cordless, but the first chinese 4 inch grinder I bought was pretty good, used it all summer hard ,then it burned out , I really got my moneys worth.so I went and bought another one at the same place, The next one lasted 5 minutes,I took it back, the guy gave me a new one,it lasted 10 minutes, then I gave up

most Harbor Freight stuff is pure junk and I mean junk. today you get what you pay for.get some thing like dewalt - maktia - milwaukee

I have a cheap drill that I use imertmintly and it has been doing the job for me. Bought a second battery on closeout. Both are getting where they will not hold much of a charge. When they get where I can no longer get them to hold a charge the drill will be gone. But they are not universly interchangeable. Each tool has its own style and type of battery. My favorite drill I can no longer buy a battery for and I think it is a skill.

I have two 18V cordless drills. One is a Dewalt and one is Harbor Freight. Both drills work very well except the Harbor Freight drill has about a fourth the power for driving screws as the Dewalt. Using the drill for drilling holes in wood it works fine and I intend to purchase another one to use on jobsites. If you accept the limitations the drill can be very helpful, especially for under 20 bucks.

It's not that hard to rebuild batteries if you can buy the cells cheap enough, but that's a problem.
Might be feasible for a tool that you really like but can't get a battery for anymore.

I bought a HF drill and found the power really lacking. Gave it to my brother, who gave it to his friend who never had a cordless drill so he had nothing to compare it with.

Like my Hitachis with LI batteries.

I buy alot of harbor freight stuff and like alot of it. BUT stay away from battery powered stuff. I have dewalt and love it but there are others that are good, also. this is one tool that money buys quality.

dave ive owned just about every brand of cordless tool out there the one thing ive learned and it was an expensive lesson is spend the money and buy a dewalt, nothing is worse than a piece of china junk that wont drive 4 screws from new without needing recharging or doesnt have enough torque to remove 1, cheap equals aggravation, and its just not worth it

The best cheaper stuff I have had is the Craftsman 19.2 volt stuff. I have Dewalt for the real heavy stuff but I needed a circular saw a few years ago. I could not justify the $450 that the set form Dewalt was. I bought a set from Craftsman that had a Drill,Sawzall, circular saw, and a fluorescent light. It was on sale for around $165. I really use the fluorescent light all the time. The drill half inch chuck that is handy. The batteries don't last as long as the Dewalt but last pretty good. I have since bought a 1/2 impact and just got a 3/8 impact. It was on sale. You got the impact, charger, and single battery for $90 delivered to my door step. It is real handy to use on sickle guard bolts. I did two grain heads just yesterday with it.

The Harbor freight stuff is getting to be pure junk any more. I used to have some of their tools for the tractor tool boxes. I had a set of 1/2 impact sockets I used for years. They where an extra deep set. Then about 3-4 years ago the quality just went to he!!. The stuff is real low quality now. I have had guys buy some of the stuff and it would fail just running it in the air when they unpacked it. I don't buy any of it any more.

Hilti, all the way. If someting goes wrong 4 day turn around on repairs and you can't beat the warranty. some of the best tools I own.

I bought some nice, good quality tool boxes from there, but the battery stuff is junk. The battery stayed okay, but the charger quit on me.

My 12 volt Dewalt outwork's the step dad's 18v
Craftsman and the battery lasts about twice as long
