Yup. all kinds of information is send back and forth when a page is requested and served. Always amazes me how much a network of computers can so in so little time.

The browser is wrong. I use IE but it said mozilla or netscape. I know that some sights can see where your IP adress is from, but it's always way off. I use a Verizon broadband card.

GReg,
This is bizarre what is on your posting because my wife works for NU Telecom, just not at their Redwood Falls location. I don't understand what your posting is about. I know my wife would, she is the computer guru at my house.

Really interesting, I made a reply to someone in this thread, and my reply is missing. Huh.

Anyhow, it's getting so that the search engines are hardly useful any more - they use this sort of tracking to aim advertising at you so hard, you don't hardly get useful results to searches any more.

Nailed Me! Got both right! I looked at it for a minute trying to figure out what's up and then read the flags, weird huh?

Seems to to look as if you are on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. Christchurch is just having the second anniversary of the Darfield earthquake

and you folks are always sayin how you ain't gonna do nuttin that'll let big brother track you  Guess you'll be disconnectin your computers now...Been nice knowin ya...

(quoted from post at 05:46:01 09/04/12) Dave- How accurate was this with you? Being youse across the big pond and all. :)

close enough.. browser was right and the IP was 15 or so miles but probably the server hub.

You got me right but you would still have a hard time finding me back in these sw Wisconsin hills. I get lost just tryin to get myself home sometimes. And I'm mostly sober.

It's correct on OS and browser. I'm on a wireless internet of sorts so server is wrong. Location is about 12 miles off.

Now this is interesting- I posted below about my computer at home (50 miles off, but everything else right). Now I get to work, and try it with my office computer- location is right, but ISP is wrong!

Or is it? I'm supposedly with an outfit called Compprime, which is also a computer store and repair place. But your guru program comes back with my ISP being Rainier Connect, another local ISP. I suspect that I'm actually with Rainier, but they have a deal with Compprime, who does the billing and service and gets a couple bucks a month. The reason Compprime is popular is that if you do your computer business with them, their techies will solve all your problems over the phone, for free.
