Hey,

Just bought our new stallion in Joseph, Oregon (weanling)..... Any of you know of transporters that work the area? Need to get him to Houston, TX. Doing the Uship thing, but it seems most folks don't work that far out (up)....
The ones we used in the past don't want to fool with the distance for one horse. Thought maybe someone in your area may be a better option. Any ideas??? Or maybe another route to look other than Uship?

Thanks, Dave

I don't know anything about the horse business--So this is an honest question What's so special about this horse that you have to get it from across the ocean and another continent away? Are European horses defective? Don't have enough "giddyap" in em?

hard to explain....... they just don't "click"............ and the bloodlines we want just aren't here or are just too expensive..... Also personalities/attitudes are different... Just hard to explain.....

Germans are stubborn and prone to warfare, maybe their horses are too. I know, I married a German gal.

Our old stallion was one generation from the States (both parents were brought over)... he was a little hard headed the 1st 2 weeks we got him as a 2 year old, but turned out to be trustworthy and gentle as a lamb (most times).... We bought a yearling from here that was several generations here that was just impossible. All progress you made one day would be out the window the next....... Sold him to a little scrawny german lady and he met his match... She's tickled to death with him.... I like the laid back, easy goin horses that only come from big open places.... I think the confines of stalls and small areas get to them over generations.... Could be wrong, but it seems like it....

Afraid I can't help much- we've always hauled our own (we always enjoy a little road trip!). I did do a couple of quick Googles, and U-ship came up first, but lots of others listed.

It would seem like cost would be prohibitive to haul a single horse, but guess it depends on how flexible you can be time-wise.

Are you going to post a picture of this guy or not, geeesh the gall of some people.

Have you talked to your export/import company to see if they have transporters they use?

Nate

"...or fools with horses." Just sounded kinda right so had to point it up... me not being a fool with horses that is...lol.

Lets take it out of context... "fools with horses"

Q.What's the difference between a draught horse and a war horse.?

A.A war horse darts into the fray, while a draught horse F!@#s into the dray.

Many years ago I used to be a "fools with horses", then I got rid of the horses.
Now the only things eating my grass are deer, grasshoppers & Brangus cattle.
