James" dad used to store his rounds on the back side of his hayfield. About 10 yrs ago, someone drove into the hayfield with tractors & trailers and loaded up 28 rounds of hay. This was in broad daylight.

Neighbors saw it, but just assumed he had sold the hay.

We never leave hay in the field anymore. As soon as its rolled, its moved to a location out of sight.

Got that right. We had just baled a small field next to a well traveled road last week and were going to stack them the next morning. Somebody stopped during the night and helped themselves to ten of them. Hope their horses enjoy the free hay.

I had 230 small squares stolen from one of my fields this year; same thing, the neighbors thought a buyer was picking them up. It makes me want to leave a few bales out in the field and poison them, but I should punish animals for their owner's crimes.

Whenever there is something of value to steal, there is somebody that will steal it.

Knew a guy who figured someone was stealing gas from his bulk tank. He set up a game camera and caught the thief - it was one of his cousins.

Knew another guy who found that someone had stolen a load of grain from his granary, so he rigged a wire to a shotgun inside pointed right at the door. Luckily, the thiefs never came back.

Kinda expected that to happen. Bet guys with remote grain bens are going to have the same problem once harvest is done.
