What was this for? To remove algae or something? The wife wants to look into digging a pond on our land, I like the "look" of them, not sure of the work involved to keep them up.

Wow - that's quite a setup. This whole country relies on dugouts (little or no groundwater), but there's nothing like that around here. Lots of questions: what's he using to treat with, is it effective, and what's the cost to do a dugout? Do you get it done every year? I've mostly relied on some Reglone A each year to keep weeds down.

his could be a real good opportunity for to make some extra cash Jim. Iffin you want to know more, hunt me down and I can fill you in with a little more info

Thanks for the offer - I tried to use the personal message thing on here but it says it's "under construction."

Edit: I tracked down the website - will have to study up on this. Have you been satisfied with the results, i.e. cleaning up algae and weed growth, etc.?

We don't use our dugouts for drinking water, only wash water and such. I also collect water off of the roof of the house which, in these wet years we've had lately, usually keeps the cistern full all summer.

Do you know what they sprayed in it? I know there's
Reglone and Reglone A and one of them you need a
pesticide applicators license to even buy it. Golf
courses use it for algae control. Another thing
that's good for standing water is having
bullrush(cat tails) in it as it purifies the water.

e used lime and alum ( aluminum sulfate) on this treatment. It will make brown smelly water into clear unsmelly water. There is other treatments a person can use also

Canada right? Why don't you throw a couple of log chains in there wait for it to freeze then drag all of that dirty water out and let it fill back up with that nice clean snow. just a thought.
