I did this about 6 years ago, but now I can't remember the polarity when attaching the battery charger cables. I thought the pos. cable went on the rods that are in the solution and the neg. hooked to the item being de-rusted...?
Is that right or vise-versa?
thanks,

You have it right Larry.
Negative to the item being cleaned.
Good ventilation is required.
Components themselves are harmless, but the process gives off combustible gasses.

I couldn't find the artical I wanted to find where a fellow took pallets and covered the edges with blankets so the edges wouldn't tear the edges of a plastic tarp.. He made it large enough to back in a trailer frame and closed in that end and filled it just above top of frame with water and added the washing powder ..instead of a battery charger ..he used a welder .
There is no limit of what size what you can clean. I have a friend that used a child's turtle sand box to de rust a lawn mower deck.
Another thing he used different was a block of carbon in place of the donor metal, (much easier to clean, but took a little longer for the affect he was looking for .
