NORTHROP was a short lived conversion in 1966/7 based on Ford 5000 with either 4 or 6 cylinder engine. The parent company fell on hard times and only a few were sold.
The designer joined another specialist earth moving machinery company called MUIR HILL and took the designs with him creating a very successful line of equel wheeled tractors based on Ford skid units.

I think that is the same cab used on the Gleaner model A combines. I know of one near my farm that last ran in 1990. Been shedded all these years. They wanted $500 a few years back.

I had one identical to that one. I replaced the power unit with a 702 after the 701 caught fire.

Hope you like yours. I found out a 325 will pick circles around the one I had.

Got the 325 model also. I do like the 701, but the 325 doesen't need a battery, no variable speed belt to adjust, less maintenance...
Here are a few other New Idea projects around this place, some working, some getting restored...

Dad had one of those balers when I was a kid. I saw one on an auction one time, might have thought more about buying it if I'd have had a place to store it.

That lawn and garden tractor's a new one on me. Never saw one before.

Hi Larry, what exactly is that in the water and on the skidsteere bucket? My brother just bought a NH l 180 skidsteere in august, he liked it so far!

thats the boat that came and cleaned out the pond last week ,we hauled the sludge out to the woods, the homeowner hired the boat, that is my friends skid steer ,I run it for him sometimes,

Nice picture of a rare tractor David. This one is owned by the famous Roger Desborough from Suffolk. Roger has brought a lot of early tractors into the UK from the USA and Canada in the last few years. David, are you coming to the National Ploughing Match this weekend. I am stewarding the Vintage Mounted class on Sunday. MJ

The L & G tractor is a rebadged "GE Electrac".
Ran on 6 - 6V batteries, 4 in the hole under the seat and 2 up front. 36V DC motor underneath approx where feets are.
GE sold out to Wheel Horse and they apparently made some under other badges.
