There's always a lot of questions on engine rebuilding and timing of the cam to the crank. By logging onto the site below will take you to a video (#1) and be sure to watch all 5 videos. It is explained very nicely for even the amateur will understand. Hope this helps any one that may need it or just want to refresh on the subject.

All engines have timing marks on the crank and camshaft to line them up be sure to use the manual for that engine to make sure that you are correct it doesn't take much to destroy an engine by being off on the timing.

Can't open the link from this device. Does the video illustrate the use of a degree wheel and finding true TDC line on the flywheel or harmonic balancer?
You would be shocked how many degrees off a "properly" installed cam can be. One of the phantom causes of a lousy running engine.
