Mike told Me , They are headed to w.virginia , Pa .areas to restore power ,..they were grabbing stuff they need .. and told me they will be back in a week -10 days ..they are a Fine Group of capable Hoosier Country Boys.. LOL

Buddy of mine works for AEP in NE Indiana. He and a crew took off Monday for WV. They love those trips. Time and a half pay for 12 - 16 hr days. All food & lodging paid by company. When they return they about need a Brinks truck to take their pay to the bank.

I saw a bunch of trucks here in town yesterday with something like Texark Power on the door. Our power was out for only 22 hours, but at church it has been out for nearly two days. I have to go there twice a day, hook up the generator and run it for an hour then put it away. A few years ago we had a company from New Brunswick here with six trucks for about a week.

There were Crew Trucks in the National Grid yard in Albany NY, from Colorado, Mon. night.
We didn't get hit hard here in Central NY. We got just over an inch of rain, and the highest wind gust that my DWS recorded was 51mph, and there were no power outages here locally that I am aware of. 50 miles South, and East of us, it is a much different story

Lots without power here in WV. Just had a storm with winds called dorratio or something like that recently. More big trees were blowed down then than I can remember happening before. Don't know if the winds weakend some others or all heavy wet snow this time. I could hear some big ones falling yesterday up on what we call hills at my place. So far I have power. Girls is out.
PS don't tell dave2 where I live. He is down on W. Virginians ever since he was moved from dave1 to dave2.

Yeh good money, but dangerous isn"t the word for what they have. Very uncertain what"s hot, what"s not, what"s going to be hot in just aminute as some dork fires up his generator and is about to back-feed through that x-former. What tree is just about to let loose, what down-guy is about to pull loose, man I"ll tell you. linemen earn every penny.

I"ve also seen lots of crews heading east. It kill"s me seeing that cause I spent two years at school to be a lineman and can"t find any work in the field. At least I"m young, still have lots of time to figure everything out.

Our guys have been leaving since Thursday. Most of our equip has been staging in Syracuse NY and Sterling Ma. We have a lot of equip and men out there.

knightstead, if you've only have two years of school you have about five more years of training to be a journeyman-lineman. Our company is always looking for good men. You would probably have to start as a helper and work your way up. There's good money in it but, every year people die nad get badly burned because of a "simple" mistake. Electricity will not forgive a mistake.
