Anyone deal with this place?
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php

I registered there a couple times...thought with the 86 Ford 1/2 ton it might be an interesting place to swap stories..

Say a couple times because I'd gotten no response and so sent the boss there an email asking what the deal was. Got a response last week...around 3 weeks after having sent it..dude was pretty rude..

Who are you? Whats your name? Whats your password? ...I can't do anything for you unless you tell me right now kinda attitude!!

So, I sent all that he asked for and at the end got a little ticked off and suggested that I wasn't a spammer..they got all unglued and sent big graphic denials of this and that...Sent back a msg that the site really wanted excess info..birthdate..sign disclaimer, location..referred by..truck mileage, useage.

So finally got tired of his bs and told him the information was excessive and he could take his site and fold it where the moon don't shine

He sent back that with 600000 members it was a security preventative thing...and that I was clueless about such things...

Maybe it was just me...

Used to be on it, but the folks started gettin to be snot nosed brats and some acted like they had a silver spoon in their a$$.... Used to be a real helpful site tho.....

I've gleaned some good info off thier forums, but, like you, decided against joining. Did join a GM group, mostly a bunch of arogant yuppies with fancy trucks and too much time to polish them. But there's a few, including one of the moderators that have older trucks and are helpful, so I do post there some. Belonged to TDR ( dodge diesel ) at one time, got tired of the fighting, squabling and general crap and dropped my membership - do miss thier quarterly magazine. some of these other sites make you appreciate this site! I rarely post anything on FTE, but as long as I use my username and the password that they assigned to me, it's trouble free. Lots of helpful and knowledgeable people on there. And like any other forum, lots of folks who need help too.

I'm only interested in the 1975 era Ford trucks - maybe that era doesn't attract the smartalecs mentioned in another post.

You mentioned registering a couple of times - once is enough - maybe that caused some sort of problem. I'm guessing - I'm certainly not the expert on anything computer related.

Haven't been there for a couple years. I frequented for a while many years ago. They were the only site that had any info or forums for the early post-war trucks.

I've been on FTE for a long long time. It's like any other chat zone some information is worth while and some is just a bunch of BS. No matter where you go your going to have the know it alls, smart a##es, and rejects of society.

Would I recommend it, YES, but like even here you just need to know who to and who not to listen to. Also take everything with wide shoulders and a grain of salt...

I'm on it...no problems, great site.

Give it a chance, sorry to hear you are having problems getting registered.

I didn't have any issues registering.

You don't have to fill in all that birthday and mileage stuff if you don't want to.

I'm on it fairly frequently -

But I keep it purely technical. People don't seem quite so freindly there. Everyone individual is different of course - but still, overall I find it has a more negative vibe than a site like this.

im on there at least once a day. there are a lot of prics and $hits there. im only on the 87-96 section. and yes the guy who runs the site is a$$. i post in the classifieds cause i got a few old 87-96 fords i need to sell parts off of and when ever i bump a couple he has $heet sideways. i post and try to help a lot of people though in the 87-96 forum though but there are a lot of jerks there and i can name a few right off my memory. yes it is a pretty informational site and it dont take long to get a answer. i also like f150forum.com pretty good too there are a lot of nice freindly guys there. ive been part of several other ones but there artn a lot of people there and always takes awhile to get replys. no you shouldnt have to fill in all that personal stuff it was all optional for me. and should be for everybody else.

I have gone to FTE regularly for 8 years without any problem. The info I recieved has probably saved me several thousnd dollars during the 8 years. It's not wise getting in a pi$$ing contest with moderators or administrators. You will loose, regardless who is right or wrong. Multiple registerations are bound to cause suspicion on a closely monitored site.
