Need tires for my 1990 F150. But 15 inch tires are getting very hard to find. Both shops in town will special order them for me. But it is cash up front.Anybody else having this problem.

There still a bazillion 'trucks' out there that still use 15"tires.Find a different tire shop.Unless you're lookin for 'used' tires, forget it.'Used' do not axist anymore.Steve BTW what tire stores are you looking at?

Yeah, have several wagons/impliments that wear 15's. Have been raiding a local car dealer's throw-out pile, finding very few 15's. Really don't want and can't afford new tires on machines that are used a few times a year, probably don't accumulate 50 miles a year. Dealer isglad to have them gone, so I'm not stealing them. He'd have to pay to get them taken off his hands otherwise.

I had the same problem a year ago buying tires for my 92' F150. very few tire places keep 15" tires in stock....poor selection. Most trucks from the late 90's-up take 16" tires.

I likely will next time I need tires. Fortunately, I have been dealing with the same independent dealer for about 30 years. He is good about getting what I need and so far never asked for payment up front. Personally, I think the wheel size situation has gotten a little out of hand. What's the big deal about 18, 20, 21, inch wheels on a pickup anyway? I have enough trouble climbing into my 76 F150, with these new ones I need a stepladder!

I have an old beater Chevy 4X4 pickup with a snow plow on it. I haven't put plates or insurance on it for years, just use it off road around the farm for plowing snow and cutting firewood.

It still has 15" wheels, and doesn't pay to put new tires on it. I've had the best luck finding used tires for it in salvage yards and on Ebay. If you look, there are tire dealers on Ebay that offer free shipping, otherwise, the shipping would kill you.

I have been to three counties looking for tires. No one stocks them. Or has a very poor selection. But they will order them.

It has been close to 20 years since 15" where put on a truck. Shoot 16" are hard to find anymore.

Billy, try tirerack.com. Should be able to get them for a decent price and they will ship to a local tire shop for them to put them on for you.

I've never thought they were to hard to find. I always see them listed along with the 16's and bigger. There are a few vehicles that use them yet, but they're(the vehicles) getting few and far between. I can't really say it's a bad thing. The bigger rims allow for bigger brakes, though I don't really understand the 18-20" wheels.

i just bought a pair of 6 ply Coopers from Discount Tire for 300...full half inch of tread too.
that was online, shipped to me with road hazard...i mounted them.

An old friend is in the used tire business. He says 15" tires are all but impossible to find. He pays a premium for good used one's, and has quite a demand for them. I've got a single axle trailer (that I haul riding mower on) with 15"'s. I put new tires on it last spring. Had to order 'em. No one had them in stock.

yes hard to find.

I have a '69 chevy C-10 4x4 that I want to put a set of 32 x 11.5 x 15 BFG A/T tires on and they have been on national backorder since August.

I can get the mud-terrains today if I wanted but they are just too knobby for me and pick up too many rocks.

Thanks. Called my sister last night. She works for WalMart. She is going to see what they have.

The reason most shops I found want money up front. The tires are now special order items.

I've got three Chevy diesel trucks with 15" tires. 235/75-15". Never had any trouble finding tires. TireRack, local Walmart, etc. The only ones I had to "special order" were the 8 ply HD 15"s. Cooper is one of the few companies that sells them.

Where are you located Billy?

Here in the St.Louis Mo. area 15" tires haven't been a problem getting!

I did just get a full set of new Michelin 16" tires with aluminum rims off a Bonneville for my son's Gran Prix at a local body shop for $250 plus tax. He has a lot of wrecked cars he buys from owners or insurance companies then can use the parts or sell them when the time arises. I bought an old 2 ton Farm truck from the same body shop with a dump bed for $150 brought it home and scraped it out and made over $500 profit. It had 9.50-20 tires that I couldn't give away. Well anyway I'm a little off the subject. What I should of said is to check with your local body shop for tires.

"Special order" at our local tire shop means they'll be here in the morning. . .

i found out the same thing while looking for a used 15 for my trailer,..dealers all said get on the list they're scarce

Scarce?? I bought some 205/75-15" trailer tires last week. Mavis tire (Mavistires.com) had over a dozen different brands in stock in the HD trailer-tire version. Carlisle load-rand Ds were $95 each and load-range Cs were $75 each.

Any dealer telling anyone that 15" tires are "scarce" is telling stories. Maybe scarce from his personal supplier but easy to get overall.

i have like 4 sets of ford rims with 235/75/15 inch tires. never had a prob finding them new either but with the tires i got i shouldnt have ti buy any for quite a while.
