Spacer shims on steering box or bearing retainers

Won't go into to much detail but on this tractor I'm restoring there are spacer shims in diff locations say from 6 one spot to 11 another spot etc. where oil needs to get to covers or bearing retainers. I understand the reason for them being there mechanicaly but think the're just leaks waiting to happen with that many mating surfaces. Anyone ever apllied say High Tack or some similar product between them to help prevent leaks. Thanks Rocko.

Just did this on an AC-B. The book calls for paper shims between metal shims to prevent oil leaks. Paper shims are NLA. I covered the gap where the shims are on the outside with hard setting gasket cement, this should work as there is no pressure.

Spray a thin but covering layer of copper coat on one side of each shim and tighten soon after spraying to allow it to squeeze out. If the shims are in good shape, they won't leak anyway, but peace of mind is good. Jim
