New Years Eve

I always figured I would NEVER forget when we moved into our current house we built. It was New Years Eve 1979 near the stroke of midnight me and the first wife were laying on the cold earth under our crawlspace hooking up the last of the ABS drain pipes so we could have all the plumbing working to move in New Years day 1980. All that plastic pipe glue and solvent in that not well ventilated crawl space bout had us loopy lol

Now we raised 3 kids here, couple grandkids here tonight (we will go to bed by 11) and most of the farm I subdivided and sold off, time for us to sell out get a small home and hit the roads more in the RV.

A body gets sentimental on New years, watch this video if you can get through it, Chet seems to have a hard time doing it himself.

But as I look back Im reminded of my good friend Jimmy from St Joe who says "Its been a good ride"

"If you ever wonder why you ride the carousel, you do it for the stories you can tell, Oh the stories we can tell" Jimmy Buffett

Happy New Year and God Bless

I still cant say goodbye

On the day my father passed away, I held his hand and told him that I loved him and that I hoped that one day that I might be half the man both he and my grandfather had been.

John happy new years to you and your clan. Thanks so much for all your help on electrical problems on the Farmall board!

The new year will be fine.
We have backed away from nuclear war about 80% from when I was a Kid.
We play with bigger toys in our shops.
We have warmth and light
We have great food (thanks to farming!!)
We have family (both quick and passed)
and we have the inhabitants of YT proverbial MAG.
It is good. Jim

Count your blessings John. My nest is empty, except when my kids and grandkids come to visit. I too have the same house I purchased in 1978. The only house my kids knew.

HAPPY NEW YEAR:)

If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye you have no heart. Thanks for sharing that JohnT. I do enjoy reading your comments and the contributions you make to this site.

Happy 2013 from another God fearing conservative.

Well John since you sort of know me I ask this. So since this next year is a 13 is it going to be like a Friday the 13th or will it be a good year or do we have to wait 365 days to find out???

John T,
Happy New Year!
Someday your children will think of you that way.

Off to start the party with OUR kids... food, music, and each of recounting our memories of the past year.
God bless!

We built our first house on a corner of the home farm in 1978 and moved in with two kids on Thanksgiving 1978. I was working full time off farm, so we had to move on a holiday.
14 years later (also on Thanksgiving) we moved into a new house we built a mile down the road on our own farm.
Between those dates it became clear there was no room for me at the home farm, I had quit my job, and I had rented, then bought land a mile west.
When we sold the first house(1.5 acres had been deeded to me) I asked Dad if he wanted me to keep making payments on the note so he could earn more interest, or if he wanted me to pay it off. He chose to get paid off. He passed away unexpectedly about 2 weeks later on Dec. 6, 1992. By April, mother had, without telling us other three siblings, given EVERYTHING to baby brother!
So the first wife(from 1973) is here with me in our second house, and hopefully(if some deferred income shows up like it should) in a few days I will make the final payment on more land I had bought in 1998, and have NO debt!
Happy New Year to you John.

Listened to the music. When it was over, told my dad I missed him (he died in 1989). I distinctly heard him say "I know you do, baby" and I lost it.

He called me baby until the day he died.

Every year before we sit down to Christmas dinner, I light a white candle. Its the "candle of remembrance" for those who are no longer with us.
