5 miles out on Upper Red Lake, 23 inches of ice, 14 feet of water. only 4 walleyes, so windy we put the fish house right next to the truck! The flash sure lit up the reflectors.

Nice! We didn't catch anything but a cold the last time I went.
Sure beats setting at home and staring at the walls though!
 
you're lucky - I didn't get out on the ice once last year, it never froze. First time that's happened.

This year isn't looking too much better. Had a few inches of ice last week, but temp's pushing towards 50 degrees this week.

Might have to move north if this keeps up.
 
Nothing more relaxing then cold beer, snacks and walleye fishing. Wonderful fishery up there...hope it doesn't do a "u" turn.
Hoping to get out on Leech myself this weekend.
Sounds like we had better enjoy fishing now, the COLD is coming next week.
 
LOL I'm over on the west side near Battle Lake. I don't ice fish. Seems if ya drill a hole and stand back 30 feet and start casting lures in the hole people thing yer showing off! And man cutting all the ice if ya wanna troll......

Yep you boys can have the ice fishing. To me it's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

yea, i tried that once, but by the time i got a hole cut big enough to get the boat in i was to tired to fish
 
OH that looks like SOOO much fun..wouldnt it be simpler just to stand in the bathtub and have someone pour ice water over you? I'm afraid im simply not as tough as you northern guys. Or your drinking something far stronger than what is sold here!
 
My wife's family were the first white settlers in
the Clitheral/Battle Lake area. There is a barn
over by Clitheral that her Great Great grandpa
built. You can still see his initials carved into
the door.
 
They've been ice fishing right here near me for about two weeks now,but the ice is way too thin for anything except walking. I haven't seen any 4 wheelers or snowmobiles on the ice yet.
