changing from 6v gen to 12v alt. has mag. will my 12v batt. be pos. or neg. ground Alt. is 1 wire. Help needed on wire route, changing light switch &all to 12v Any Help thanks vmac tx.

Does not matter is a mag or a distributor 99.9% of alternators are - ground. If you hook them up + ground the moment you hook the battery up you let the smoke out of the alternator and good chance the wires so you would then be replacing all of it again

As old indicates. Changing the light switch is not needed. It will work fine on 12v unless you put higher watt bulbs in the lights. (for bright bulbs with less current, use LED bulbs!)
