Question for Picture of the day viewers

I've been posting some pictures for the day.
I have many books on agriculture history.
Does anyone have in mind a picture of what you may want to see?
If so I'll look thru my books and see if I can find what you want.
All the talk and pictures of old barns I find very interesting and have a book called "Barns" I will try to scan and post some pictures that are in that. I think actual recent photos of barns are pretty neat.

I love to see the old pictures of the brochures, where they are in the field working... I don't have any on my work computer.. Or id post one...

Thanks for the photos you have already posted. I printed out the ones that I have the equipment just in case I get time to paint some of them. Are they all IHC, or some of everything. I will send you photos of what I have. TKS.

I'd love to see more implements in action.

Pretty much anything would be interesting.

Even stationary equipment - grinders, etc.

Plenty of tractor/landscape/barn pictures (not that I don't like them) but I just never see too many pictures of old stuff being used.

(... come to think of it, perhpas because people had to stand still to take a photo!)

John B.,

Do you have any good drawings or photos of a Farmall Regular working? Can be plowing or doing any type work. Pics/drawings with steel wheels preferred - but "wubba all da way awound" will work too.

What about everyday stuff that folks used just to live before Tarjet WallyWorld. Around here there weren"t any tractors, so push plows, hand cut corn stacks, and the tools that were used then.

Keep sending them. I love any old pictures or art work of rural areas. I have a desire for "back when I was a boy"!

Sure... we have one of each. :)

Only reason I prefer Regular if you have any, is because one does not see them as often.

Whatever you have post it. I think the oddball things that are either regional or not very often used are the best.

SweetFeet---It's ironic that you have the triple interests of IHC Regulars, old barns, and cameras. In 1944 the first tractor I drove was a steel-wheeled Regular, plowing w/a 2-bottom plow. Stayed out of school 25 days that year to help my dad farm. (It was legal back then). In '68 I tore down a 2-story house that looked like one of the abandoned ones you see. And about that time I was using my only camera, which was a stereo camera. But there came a time where Kodak wasn't mounting slides anymore, so that was the end of that era. Then came the 35mm Petri, and the current one is a Canon digital. My interest for years has been old barns. Whenever I've gone to farm auctions, I've tried to explore the out-buildings for the fun of it(if they wern't locked up). So, yeah, we have a lot in common-----

Cienna,
Thanks for sharing. Neat story. Our Regular was built in 1931... so it was just a teenaged tractor at the time you were driving your first Regular.

Yep, just love old iron, old barns, old houses (could probably add old furniture to that list)... and especially love photographing them all. Sometimes when I have time, I just sit at my computer and look through my photos of old stuff and enjoy the memories of the auction, junkyard or show that we went to that particular day.

Post some pics sometime.

Do you like your Canon? Thinking on upgrading from my Sony Cybershot... I want a real telephoto lens! : )

SF---Thanks for your response! Yes, I like the Canon for close shots and for dimly-lit occasions. You asked for pics of barns and old stuff. Most of the meaningful pictures are locked in the stereo slides, and there's no way I can get prints from them. If you have any idea at all how I can get prints, I wish you'd let me know. And there's also pics from my 35mm camera on "My Pictures" that I can't upload to the computer. If you have answers to these dilemmas, let me know. Have pics of old barn, granary, and windmill that we disassembled and used. Pics in stages of old house that I took apart, and used to build 2-stall garage. An aside---I also enjoy refurbishing old farm-related hand tools. Where do you live in MN? Met my wife in Mpls, worked in the USPS there, and went to Dunwoody trade school there. Have relatives in St Paul, St Cloud and Breckenridge. Martin

SF---Forgot about another camera we have---one we bought to celebrate our 40th anniv. It's an X370 Minolta. It has lenses of 35 to 75mm wide angle, and 75 to 200mm telescopic. And a few filters, and a flash. Haven't used more than 6 or 7 rolls of film in it because it was too complicated. If there's any way that you could use this equipment, you're welcome to it.
I was wondering if we could communicate by exchanging email addresses. I could send you pics from "My Pics" that way. But I don't know how to send more than one pic at a time if it's in a different folder. Seems it would be easier that way, rather than going thru YT. By the way our email add is [[email protected]].

Cienna,

Thank you for the offer of your camera, very kind of you! But I plan to upgrade to a digital camera with good lenses. I really like the digital cameras. And my husband said as much as I enjoy photograpy, he wants me to go ahead and spend the money to get a good one. So I am planning to do that in a few weeks so I can learn to use it before we come to the next round of summertime shows and junkyard trips.

Please don't be offended - but I don't email others here. I really enjoy the online friendships and the things I learn from all over the world. But I just communicate through YT. (I did email a couple times - then received an email through YT, opened it and shortly afterward my 2 year old computer crashed to the point the computer shop could not even retrieve any info from it. Both its harddrive and its motherboard were trashed. Thankfully I had backedup all my important documents and photos to an external hard drive or all would be lost.)

Regarding the photos trapped in your camera...
If it is a digital camera, you may be able to put the memory card into another camera to retrieve the picture files (if you know someone with a camera that is compatible with your particular memory card). That is what I did when my first Sony was dying - one could still use it to take photos, but it would not feed out to the computer. So I would let our kids use that camera for class trips and things like that, then put the memory card into my good camera and was able to load them to my computer from that camera. Another option is if your printer or computer has the little slots for directly inserting memory cards into - then I assume you could access the files and save them as photos on your computer.

I don't know anything about slides, BUT I have seen folks on YT mention "scanning slides" to convert them to digital format. Here is a link to a website about scanning stereo slides. Or you can just google "stereo slides".

One last note... to email more than 1 photo to someone, you just insert the one- then click on insert again and go find whatever fold has the pic you want to insert and insert that one too. You can attach numerous photos to one email - but if they are large file sizes it can take a long time for the "send" to process. And depending on your internet service it may exceed its capabilities or limits on file size.

Hope this info is helpful.
