Ok, I know it has been hashed out on here before. I need a newer truck. Old one (2003 F250 diesel) was totaled. I pull a load with it appx. 30 times a year +/- about 260 miles round trip. Load and trailer weight varies but usually in the 10k lb range. Not sure I want a new diesel. What would you guys look at?

I drove a 2011 F250 with the new 6 speed auto and the 6 L gas engine. I liked it wasn't as bussy as my same truck with a 5.4 and Auto. Right now I am leaning towards a Eco-boost F150. You can chip them up just like a diesel. My neighbor has one and he put airbags, and E rated tires on it. Pulls a big camper. Loves it. I just don't know about pulling a 15000 lb load with a 1/2 ton. I'm hauling 14 bales of hay now with a gasser 03 F250 and it sure does drive and stop well. Vic

Oh that's the trick. Wish the old one was still a viable option. Did everything I asked of it.

I just can't say anything bad about my Duramax-Allison. Awesome kind of describes it, up to well over 25,000 lbs.....

The guys I see who pull loads for a living on the Interstates I travel on use Fords and Dodges exclusively. Diesels with duals. Most are two wheel drive with extended cab. Fifth wheel. I haven't seen one Duramax out there and I've been looking just out of curiosity.

Tow rating for my Ecoboost with max tow package is 11,300#. They don"t need to be chipped and shouldn"t tow loads over their rating.
