another common sense post,..i like to nit pick the news and some of the stupid things they do and say, the latest was on our channel 10 out of columbus ohio, while telling of the top 5 states with the most break-ins he had a map of the US and was highlighting each state as he reported, he did ok with new york and texas but when it came to IL. he hesitated and highlighted MO. you'd think a news person would know such things

Just here in Illinois there has been an outbreak of rural break-ins in the towns of Alhambra, New Douglas, Pocahontas. These are small towns.

If you try to point out everything wrong with today's news you will have a full time job and won't have time for anything else in life.

Have the same idiots here in Mid-Michigan. A city near by is Clio is pronounced Cly-o. Non-natives call it Clee-o. After a few news casts they get it right. Same with road names.

I would much rather see a local newscaster have the job, more sense of community to me.

Spring Hill Tennesse is about 35 miles south of Nashville. The mayor of Spring Hill is a man whose last name is Dinwiddie. A while back the major radio stations in Nashville were running a news story about something he had done. Apparently the copy writer spelled his name Dinwiddle, so all of the talking heads promounced it that way.

Now, many of the folks in Spring Hill simply refer to him as Dinwiddle. I love the news reporting.

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of being the first to get it on the news they spent the time to get it right the first time!

Cairo, Nebraska is pronounced "Kayro", not "Kyro", as in Egypt.

Steinhauer, NE is pronounced "Steener" by the natives.
