Wood floors I mean.
I salvaged this hardwood flooring over 20 years ago. 3" Ash with a ribbon of Brazilian Cherry. Had it stashed away all these years.
I had to buy the 2 1/4" Ash to go around the edges as there wasn't enough 3" to do the whole room.
I installed it in my living room 2 years ago but didn't have the dough to sand it out and poly it.
Work has picked up here a bit lately so I'm finally going to finish that room - paint, baseboard, window trim, etc.
Anyway, I did the sanding this weekend and got the first coat of poly on this afternoon. Thought I'd snap a couple of photos.
I guess I'll have to keep the tractor parts out of there now.

Jerry,

Looks really good.I am in the process of repainting the interior of our house.Last year i painted all the crown moulding,400 L.f.,that some idiot,me,put up 11 years ago.
Built a desk top flanked by two cabinets to store the kids book bags and installed wainscoting in the entry at 4' up.Painted all that and got busy with work so I didn't have time to return to it until recently.I painted the kitchen and a small entry way.Still busy with work so I will just keep picking away at it.I figured it to take a couple of years as I really don't like to paint.I do like the results though.

I got red oak wood floors in the whole house, 5 bedrooms, halls, steps ect, but steps are carpet, and 1 bedroom! I gotta convince the wife to let me take it off the steps, but she's afraid of slipping on the staires? So I may just leave it.

Yup, I DO have wood. Bought a foreclosed house next to my property in November. Stunk to high heaven from cat pee. Ripped up ALL the carpeting, sealed the sub-floor and put down over 900 sq ft of 3/4" red oak. Finished with the poly 2 weekends ago. It was real nice to do it on a house that is empty. Was able to finish the floor and let it cure for 2 weeks w/o any traffic. Funny thing is that the kitchen has a laminate oak product that's in good shape and we were going to leave it. After we put in the 3/4" oak next to it, wife said "rip up the kitchen and replace with red oak". We also have 3/4" red oak in our kitchen at our current house that is over 10 yrs old. Floor has held up REAL well in a high traffic area.

Looks good. How were you able to salvage the old flooring? I've never had much luck. Seems the tongue always wants to split.

We tore out carpeting about ten years ago and put hardwood in 4 rooms including the kitchen and it's the best flooring decision we ever made. One of my girls is in the flooring business and we did 2 bedrooms later on and one is cherry and other is hickory with different width boards and it turned out great. I bought an air floor nailer for the first job cause I knew it would take me a long time and have since loaned it out, rehabbed a couple houses and when girls boyfriend borrowed it something went wrong with it and he put a rebuild kit in it and now it's as good as new waiting for the next job.
