Mpm wanted to see her monument and make sure it was what
she wanted. She spent over $7000 on it

Looks great......on the other side, what a waste, couple of generations down the road it will be forgotten and neglected. Not trying to be mean but just honest. My dad has a headstone because he was a vet. Mom nothing because my sister was supposed to do it and had the money.....but it's left up to me yet again. She will have a marker this spring. Mom was kinda mean. My kids will not keep her grave up. They really didn't know dad cause we were gone with me in the Army.

The important thing here is that you are happy! When I go I hope they can just flush me down the drain!

First off I am NOT a go green freak. Far from it. I think it is all a bunch of crap. That being said, I have opted for a green burial. No preserving the body, buried in a pine coffin with no metal or sealants, and in a nature preserve without any headstone or marker. I may have a living marker planted. In 2-5 years, you won't even know there is a grave there.

Walt, thats really hard to look at LOL ! I do realize of course, the inevitable. Now the good thing is those blank spaces after the year on each of you, lets just keep those blank a good long while now ! Beautiful monument all the same.

Oh yes, you will. The grave will sink in the shape/size of the coffin. Go to most any pioneer cemetery and you"ll see what I mean. The headstone and foot-stone will mark the spot and the sunken area where the bones will be found.

You were the one who was complaining about the and I quote"THE TURKEYS WHO CAME IN TO CHECK ON YOU DURING THE NIGHT" when you were in the hospital- I call them NURSES! That $7000.00 that was spent on that "rock" might have helped some girl get thru nursing school!

Looking at a stone with my name on it seems like bad mojo to me..
Like the OES stuff though.. Im Past Master of Fellowship Lodge # 84 Smithfield NC . Means a lot to me.

'Man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets...., and the spirit unto God who gave it.' PM, Esdraelon Lodge #176, Cardiff, Md.

Nice looking marker, Walt.

It's at Hopewell Cemetery just west of Salem, OR.
my gt gt and gt gt gt grandparents are also buried there just above my stone. They tell me that I am related in someway to half the people buried here. It's a family cemetery on land that was owned by my 3rd gt grandmothers sister Racheal Cooper Matheny. Most of the land around there at one time was owned by the early pioneer family.

Nice stone it fits in well with the rest. It would look out of place in our community cemetery. It will be there for future generations to see. Stan

Looks good Walt, nice monument.

I plan on being cremated and having my ashes sprinkled on my Son's grave; no fancy headstone, just a simple marker next to my Son's.
