It seems that we folks west of the rockies, are not as closly knit as the middle of the country, or eastern section. I personally am interested in knowing, how many of YT folks hail from west of the rockies, especialy Washington, Oregon, and California.I subscribe to the Capital Press news paper, and it covers the area's I mentioned, along with Idaho, and some of Montana.Any interest in chiming in on western locations?

Hello Ralph, I used to live West of the rockies, since then my brother in Washington state sent me a couple years subscription to the Capital Press. I also get the Small Farmers journal out of Oregon, although that mainly deals with horse farming. Bernsy

This is my Current location: The Scott Valley, Northern Ca.
I was born and raised in the High Desert of Central Oregon. Relocated to a small town in (very) Northern California about 4 years ago. Love it here, aside from the complete lack of date-able women...

Have traveled around most of the country. Can't imagine living anywhere else. I do get a bit jealous of the abundance of old farm equipment the Midwesterners have to pick from...

Handyman, I've been in your area many times harvesting in the Fort Hall-Pocatello area, then moving up to Hamer after that. I enjoy your dry air. Jim

Hi Ralph, I live about 30 min west of you in Tacoma. House is just off SR16 and Union Ave. The farm is on the east side 15 miles north of Spokane. I too read the Capital Press and have got some really good info out of the paper.

Ben, that pic is just beautiful country! Funny it didn't look that fine, when I went by the sign on I 5. that is one great valley. Did you see Delta Red's pict? He was able to catch a rainbow! We have some great country, and so diverse!

WOW! You wern't very far from the Nally Valley pro-pane explosion a few yr's ago! How do you like that 5 hr. commute to the farm?

What brand is that old horse drawn scikle mower?, you got to love what some water will do to that land! I see that you have some allis equipment, is that tractor a WD? Where does your water come from? The colorado?

I remember the explosion. Was at work that day and power cut out for a bit and our back-up generators cut in. The commute to the farm is fun but tiring, but I do get to see all the farms driving over. Sure is pretty.

Our farm is in Vancouver Washington. About 15 miles from Portland Oregon. 60 Minutes to the ocean, 60 Minutes to snow on Mt. Hood. 2 hours to the desert of eastern Washington and Oregon.

Also a subscriber to the Capital Press. I usually just look at the ads, but Craigslist has taken such a big bite out of their ad sales there isn"t much anymore.

Grays Harbor County Wa. In the Satsop Valley, 35 min. to the Pacific. 3 miles from mile post 12 on Hiway 12.

It is awful pretty country! I'm over a little (4100') mountain pass, and about 15 miles from yreka, and I-5. Elevation here is about 2800'. The shasta valley(Yreka) has it's own beauty, But we have em beat by a mile!

Steve does take some great pics! I need to get my camera out more often...

Yeah Jim! Ive been by the old nuke buildings several times, when buying machinery. Did anyone ever do anything with those towers? Put a round roof on them and store a lot of hay!

toledo wa. had this property since 1976 and finally made it down here. moved last year from aberdeen wa. aberdeen isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

I will have to look Toledo up, don't know it! I have a sister in law in Hoquiam, so I am pretty familiar with Aberdeen.

30 miles east of San Diego. Home ranch in W. Oregon still in the family. Worked at Montague, Ca. for a short time.

And for those who may think Idahoans don't take their potatoes seriously, the Shelley high school sports teams are the Shelley Russets.

The mower is a 1943 McCormick Deering No. 9. The tractor is a 1955 AC WD45. The water comes from the south slopes of the Uinta Mountains. The highest peak is Kings Peak at 13,528 feet.

There are a lot of thing's going on up there but the towers have not been use'd.

Toledo is South of Mike off I-5 home of the Threshing Bee. the last of
august. Well worth the drive.

Im guessing at least half the state of Idaho is working up here in nwND..
Seem like good hard working people 8) 8) 8) 8)

Transplant here from the midwest....would be hard to go back! I am 20 miles east of Spokane, about a mile from the Idaho line. Love the mild winters, cheap irrigation water, low humidity, no tornados, no mosquitos....have met Leonard here at the farm and Migraine and his cohorts in Lynden....that is a nice area also.

Them there Russets will be playing tomorrow for the state title in basketball. Hopefully they will have a good game and prevail. ultimately the state champ will be from eastern Idaho because they are playing the Snake River Panthers from just west of Blackfoot.
