A friend needed a hand to move something at a storage facility. The company he works for rents a unit to keep stuff in . While I was there I saw a lot of old cars and trucks that people store in the lot. My firend said most of them have been sitting there for a long time. he said what the heck are you taking pictures of that crap for? I said Tractor talk might like to see them! He looked at me with a blank stare! This is one car that I saw ,I have a bunch more, and even some rustier ones for SweetFeet later on.

Funnily enough Ford built a car back in the 60s in Britain very like that. My father had one when Iwas a child. It was called a Classic Capri. I have only library images of restored capris at shows.
Strange how styling was so similar, though I am sure our car was a lot smaller!

Thanks for the picures Larry and Samn40. I used to know the year model of Thunderbirds based on the configuration of the tail lights, but I've forgotten over the years.

I would guess that the one in the picture is about a 1968, but like I said, I've forgotten for sure.

Samn40, in America, the Capri was a Mercury automobile (division of Ford). I think it was a Mercury. It's been a long time ago.

You are right, He don't know us, I love em go ahead and post the rest. There was a 67 Corvette Sitting in a driveway around the corner from my first FIL. BIL said it was there when they moved into the neighborhood in 71. Always had a sign Not For Sale or covered with a tarp. Watched it for years tarps rotted, tires all flat, paint faded and finally the fiberglass fuzzed up. About two years ago I had my camera with Me and I thought I would take a pic to post here and it was gone. I had been by there a month before and it was there. Sounds like one of them urban legends but it's the truth.

I think the triple tail lights on the T-bird make it a 60. I think the 58 and 59 had dual tail lights.

larry,

Really cool. Looking forward to more rust when you get time to post more pics.

Gotta go... gonna go put some holes in some targets today!

love those classic mags on the yellow car, just dont see those anymore, and there my favorite, mags and bright yellow coupe just begs to have a v-8 stuffed in it, so, whats really in there?

Ohmygosh! I love that body style! With the big engine in them, they would fly! Bet there isn't any floorboard left the way it is sitting on the ground. That's a shame. 'Scuse me, I think I got something in my eye.

Sam, the back end on the little red coupe looks very much like the back end of an early 60s Mercury Comet too. Hadn't thought of the Capri in some time. Thanks to you and Larry for sharing the pictures.

It appears to be a 58-60 T-Bird, but I am not sure just which of those years. It was the first body style after the 2 seaters of 55-57. A friend of mine had a 59 in high school with a factory 430 Lincoln engine. Fast, but thirsty.

Capri is a name Ford has use here and there over the years. Some 50"s Lincolns had the model name Capri, and they were large cars. Then in the late 60"s and early 70"s Capri was the name of a small European coupe that Mercury marketed. Starting in about 1979, and for quite a few years after, Mercury marketed their version of the Mustang as the Capri, with relatively minor changes to make it a little different than the Mustang.

It is too bad the owner did not store the picture T-Bird better. It looks very straight and complete and probably would have been a fairly easy car to restore. But with it sitting on the ground as it appears to be, I would expect it would need floors, maybe a frame and lots of suspension components. But maybe the owner enjoyed watching a nice car deteriorate. It"s their car...but probably a parts car now and worth a whole lot less that it might have been a few years ago. Oh well!!!
