IH hydraulic cylinders

Last year dad got a pair of mint condition ih 3000 hydraulic cylinders, and they're labled as a 3/4-16 thread. is that just an o ring seal like jd cylinders? They've got hoses, but no elbow so they just stick straight out.

FWIW- dad got the pair for $25.

That makes it easy then. I'm probably gonna get some fittings with the o ring on one end and NPT on the other, then cut the ends off the older hoses and put on regular npt threads. Got a hose crimper at work so that part is no problem. Would rather have a standard fitting in case of a weekend blow out.

We've almost got enough to have a cylinder on each implement now...

We find them now and then. Always gotta keep your eyes open and you just might find something. We've got a few other cylinders that need new hoses, but it's cheaper to buy premade ones most of the time if we can plan ahead some.

Biggest trouble we have is our 285 needs much longer hoses than our 1855 and 1600, so there is usually a loop in the hose to take up some slack, or they' re hanging down a little more than would be ideal.

3/4-16 with an o ring is an SAE #8 fitting. Fleet Farm, Tractor Supply, Northern, Baine's Farm & Fleet,Surplus Center, etc all have cheap adapters to convert to NPT.
 
It works to make a couple of short cheater hoses to use just for that tractor- put a male ftg on one end, female on the other.
 
It's not that big of a deal, we just get the hoses 12"longer and thats usually enough. The 285 is usually the prime tractor on things like the manure spreader and haybine, so no troubles with slightly longer hoses. If there is an issue we tie them up with a bungee cord.

Might need to do something if we want to run our 285 on the chopper though, didn't have a1000 rpm shaft for the 285 till this weekend.
