Need computer help

Anybody on here ever got one of the redirect viruses where clicking on a link brought up in a search sends you any and everywhere but the place it's supposed to? I wound up with one on mine the other day and have tried everthing I know of to get rid of it. I can get it to stop (I think it's the things I'm doing) long enough for one or two links to work right, then it's back to the same old crap.

Anybody else had one of these and been successful in getting rid of it? If so how did you do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Click on this link and perform this scan called housecall.........do you have an antivirus running? If not...after your computer has been cleaned up...you better get one installed.

Install Malwarebytes and update it and run it. Its free. Also spybot search and destroy.

I had the babylon hijacker a couple of years ago and had to have a techy friend remove the thing. it was a tuff one.

I went through a bout of virus cleaning scam several months ago.Not easy to get rid off. Type the url that shows up into google and you will be able to find the fix.
One tip I picked up is that if a strange pop up suddenly appears saying your computer is infected touch nothing. Crash your computer by unplugging it. X-ing out of it,minimizing, etc by any keyboard command implants the virus,by activating an executable file. Crash the computer restart in safe mode and preferably google the symptoms on another computer.

I bet you picked it up in a google search. I had a trogan virus this weekend I picked up doing some research. My son downloaded a free version of AVG Antivirus and it got rid of it.

Have you tried running Windows Defender?Go to control panel and click on it to run microsofts version of virus protection.Takes quite a while for the full scan to run.I have mine set to run when ever I am on the computer.

I had one a few months ago do that. I went in to the program files and deleted it there. I knew it was the one because the date of the download was that days date.

Malwarebytes is a good one... got rid of that FBI virus... the one that you pay a fine through moneygram for porn or illegal music downloads.

NCWayne,

Are You using Google chrome? I do, and had to delete one of these from the program files and then go to the 'tools-settings-extensions' on the tool page, i think, and deactivate it there also. I think I have said this right. I have to learn as I go on computers, not enough moving parts!
