The perfect snow day

Duncan and I took the opportunity to walk around the farm and take some pictures in the snow. My farm is in Northern Ky, east of Cincy. We had approx. 5 inches. I hope everyone enjoys these. Ellis

Great Pictures Ellis. They're predicting 60 degree for us this weekend here in Illinois by St. Louis.

Nice pictures. I grew up in North Dakota and never heard the words "perfect snow day" before. Don't miss it but nice to look at as long as I don't have to deal with it.

Very nice pictures. You have a great farm there and a great dog. You could frame a couple of those pictures for future memories.

Ellis, the very far north point of my territory, is the Spring Lake, Decorsey, Ryland area(the first two may be RR locations only) is that pretty close, or are you farther east/west?

Ellis some of those pics could have been my place. My far building has one side extension and the building red. My lanes through the trees heading out back look like yours and always a dog along. We had 4 inches or so depending on the drifts most we"ve had in central Illinois all year. Being march it still looked nice to see a little winter knowing in a few days it wil be gone

C'mon now. Northern Plains Pheasant Retriever? I have been training bird dogs and retrievers for 60 years, breeding pointers, setters, Brittanys, Labs, And that is a new one on me. Not an AKC breed and not an American Field registry. Maybe a Nigerian breed?
Bring him up to SD. I will guide you for a day for free to see him in action.

I wasn't going to say anything but since Gordo brought it up....I don't think he could "bound" through the sloughs and cattails some of these guys hunt. May have to send the birds in to find the dog.

In ND, it alway seemed that snow came down horizontally because of the wind. I was amazed the first time that I went to Montana during the winter and saw snow 6-8 inches deep on top of a fence post. Never saw that in ND; the wind would blow the snow off the top of a post.

And I never saw a "perfect snow day" in ND; that's why I live in the AZ desert now!

Ellis, your place looks familiar; I live in Bracken county and am 45 miles se of Cincinnati. I have ridden on most of the back roads between RT 10 and RT 8 at one time or another. It is pretty country; at one time I lived in Alexandria in a subdivision off RT 10 and now I have a farm on RT 10 in Bracken county. When I lived in Alexandria, I rode my bike on all the country roads so I bet I've passed your place- I guess I was getting ideas where I wanted to live!

I think Northern Plains is the breeder not the breed. They have a web site. Looks to me to be a Lab which Northern Plains Retrievers does breed. It may be a little short in the legs or the snow is deep. My little females litter had one short legged male. His body was the same size as the others but he was 2 pounds lighter. You wouldn't believe a 73 pound dog could turn corners like he could. I named him Sprout.

I have been past your place, thought it looked familiar. I like those roads in your area; you have a nice place.
