Hope I did OK....

Yesterday afternoon at a friendly local small town Chevy dealer, I scored a 2000 Chevy X cab, short box, 4x4 pickup, 207K miles, 5.3 engine, and so loaded I probably haven't found all the goodies yet for $3500.

No rust, only negative is a dent in the tailgate, but the gate still works fine. I can either fix this tailgate or put a new aftermarket one on for maybe $150.

The miles don't scare me as I seldom put over 3,000 miles a year on a pickup, but when I need one, I need one.

The dealer had just traded for it, and hadn't even washed it yet so I'm guessing I just gave him his trade-in allowance for it.

With overdrive these days the engine really doesn't have the miles on it as the odometer reads, only the running gear or drive train, transmission on back has the miles.

I would keep your eyes open on a tailgate. Likely a used one will pop up in the same color as your truck.

With 200K miles do you want to put a new tailgate on it? Or is the dent pretty bad.

My last tailgate, the previous owner drove forward without raising the gooseneck high enough. Bowed it around 3 inches. Blocked it on wood and pushed down on it with the loader to straighten it. Didnt want to spend any money since it was an old plow truck.

If it's been serviced with any degree of frequency, it's just nicely broke in. With the exception of front wheel bearings of which it's likely due for it's 3rd set about now!

True.

With the cruise set on 60 on the level, the tach sits on 1500. That's basicly a high idle.
