CAB OR NO CAB ON A BACKHOE

I just sold my JD 410 hoe and going to replace with a 4x4 hoe..
Not sure if I want a cab or not. The one I sold just had a 4 post with a top. I don't ever use in the winter and at my age of 68 will only use maybe 30 real hours per year if that.
CAB or no CAB ??????????

Think that would be one of those things where the rest of the unit would be the deciding factor, and a cab would be a bonus. If you live in an area where winter does it's thing, a cab would sure increase the usefulness of the unit.

I went from a M Case with Air & heat to a E with just a roll bar and top. The M wasn't mine. I really miss the cab in the cold, and the extreme heat. But I would never be able to put a nice hoe with a cab into the brush. I wanted to be able to haul my hoe with my single rear wheel pickup and a 15000 gvw trailer so a E is as new as I can haul, newer is to heavy. I would rather not have a cab unless it is a quiet one like a newer model. Vic

if you don't have to use it in inclement weather,go with no-cab. increased visibility is worth a lot as we get older. i have the same situation and you couldn't give me a cab. -john-

I would not own a backhoe without a cab myself. The modern cabs do not block your view very much. The entire back window rolls up into the top. Mine has heat and AC. Also when you go to sell it you will find one with a cab and heat/AC will sell much quicker.

It is much nicer on real hot days and cold ones. I am getting soft in my old age. LOL

Didn't know about the REAR WINDOW roll up--Probably will end up with a JD 410-510 C OR D
Won't have much if any work for it--just like iron compared to savings at .00000000001%

If you can find one with a cab and the glass intact, even if no heat and AC, you can take windows out in summer and put them in to break the wind in winter. And you can get a 12 volt clip-on fan for about $12.

Flat and gasketed windows seem to not care about brush. Curved and bonded windows really don't like anything touching them.

CAB or no CAB ??????????
We had an open cab JCB with a windshield. I loved it because I never had to replace a door on it as I do with all cab machines ( my guys can tear them off with no effort) What we did see was a lot of electrical problems with the open machine. That could be a JCB trait. I guess a tarp could stop it.

The first time you need to get into a tight space to do a septic line or something you'll hate the cab. The first time you have to work in a cold windy rain you'll hate the open station.

It's a toss up.

I've ever been able to afford anything with a cab.

Cab... On newer machines there's no real difference in visibility with open station vs cab. Might as well be comfortable.

When I am loading dirt, I end up taking the door off. Real easy. The rest of the time, digging when it is cold or raining, I love the cab.

If I remember correctly, the D has a little better cab than a C, as far as getting in and out of.

If you are going to by that older machine then I would NOT get a cab. I havea JD 410 J MFWD and the cab is great on it.
