Started this morning and back out of the shed fine. Shifted to forward gear and it won't move at all in forward or reverse. Sounds like the clutch but it's been fine. Releases fine gears don't grind. Maybe clutch not engaging? When I shift from reverse to forward, I can see a slight movement in the right direction on my tires so I think the shift is going in gear. Any suggestion? Thanks, Tommy

Does it have a inspection cover you can take off and look up into the clutch housing??? I would bet that the center hub sheared off the clutch plate. If it is not that then the pressure plate broke and is not putting any pressure in the clutch disk.

Those are the two simple things. I guess you could have broke something in the transmission but that would be more uncommon. The sheared clutch hub is common.

Tom : Pretty common mistake on the M 4900. What happened is you short shifted it. Your tractor is in affect in natural. The shift pattern is a plain H and you rounded the corners as you came down and back up. If you will click on my name and e mail me a phone number I can talk you into getting the linkage back right. Not a big deal just need to talk you thru it to make sure it is done right.. jm.

The trouble was caused by a brain freeze. I reckon when I stepped on the brake I knocked the speed trans. shifter in neutral with my knee. I went back out and started over. Found it right off. Feel right stupid sometimes. Thanks for the help.
