Update for JD Seller/jon f mn

Dad and I made the trip from London Ky to Chilicothe OH to look at the volvo I was asking about. The seller is either a liar, mentally retarded, or a combination of both. The truck DID have a sliding 5th wheel(he told me over the phone it didnt), the exhaust manifold wasn't cracked(flex pipe was rusted right after the manifold). All this was good news until I climbed up into the cab. 400k my rump! It had rolled over! I saw it as soon as I got in the seat. We drove 4 hrs to get there and had another 4 to get back so i figured i might as well drive it. The drive confirmed what the odometer said if you know what i mean. I offered him 4500(asking 5) and he wouldn't budge, and I'm glad he didnt now that ive had more time to think about it. It would probably be a good truck for what i need, but lying about the miles kinda turned me on it. I knew a low mile, low $ truck was probably a pipe dream, but you never know till you look. Any way just wanted to let you know how it went, and thank you again for your time, and advice. By the way JD, sorry for you, and your brothers loss. Prayers sent for you, and yours.

Oh well,if it's a pretty of a day down there as it is up here,it was a nice day for a drive.

Used trucks and tractors are very hit and miss.

I had a dealer offer to sell me a used tractor. When I called back to make an appointment to look at it I was told the owner decided to take it home to his farm. Guess it is a good one, I'll never know. What a let down.

That would have happened to me too. I always seem to find the lemons. lol Oh well, maybe next time.

Hi I noticed your post about looking at a truck if you are patient and look maybe in the western kentucky, southern indiana or southern illinois it might be better, Of course over around london I would have thought you could have found a decent old coal truck with at least a wet kit for reasonable money. I have about 3500 in mine so for it is a 1980 gmc general. I still have have to replace a rear spring, axle seal, and a wiper motor, but the tires and brakes are good. Mine was from a farmer though. Have a good one and happy hunting

Aaron you right about London having LOTS of coal trucks, but decent, old, and coal truck usually don't go together. LOL. Im burning up searchtempest, lookin for one, I just need to calm down (tax $ is burnin a hole in my pocket!) and let the right one come along. Does your general have a two stroke Detroit? I have never drove a truck with one, but we have quite a few of them in equipment, and I LOVE that sound!

If you haven't yet try "Truckpaper.com". You can put in the requirements you want and search by state or distance from home. I have used it in the past.
