got my oakboard fence up and now need to cut the
tops off the fence posts. They are wood half rounds with a six inch width . They are treat pine. What is the best tool and
best method to cut the top off them. I have about 600 to do. Is there any type tool or jig you can buy or make to ensure the angle cut on each post is the same. The fence runs along the highway.
It is for horses.
Thanks Tom

chain saw is all we use. I have cut thousands of post tops that way,you can mark them to start with but you will get the hang of how you want them and just do it free hand after you do a few.A small saw w/mini chain might work best.

We always cut ours off at a 30 degree (approx.) angle so the rain water would run off reducing rot on top of the posts.

I'm not sure if it is a big deal but we always did it this way.

Use a chalk line to mark the posts for a level cut.

You can get the hang of it pretty quick with a small chain saw, but the cuts end up pretty rough. A sawzall is lighter, and makes a nicer cut, but a little slower, of course.
