There is a barn up on the Fox Creek that was one of the ranches of the early cattleman John Bratt. Here are a few pics.

Somebody spent some bucks there. I wonder how they keep the roof from leaking where the horizontal roofing meets the vertical pieces?

Why would you paint a Liberian flag on your barn?

I bet if the picture was more detailed, we would see that the horizontal sheets are mounted on top of the vertical sheets...just a guess.

I have a buddy that lives N.E. of Syracuse NE in Otoe county that has a barn very similar to the one you show in your photos..You couldnt walk upright on the ground level cause of the crap that has built up through the years. Trying to get him to clean it up and use it but he has inherited it and doesnt seem to be motivated to do that...They tore the older one it was put together with wood dowls/pins. Was amazed!!!!

Our barn is part of the Iowa Barn Foundation. It was built by my Great Grandfather in 1921 and was used to house the dairy cows and horses. We used it until several years ago for milking and now use it for some of our steers and machinery storage.

Heres some pictures of when it was built. This was a built in a day barn. The foundation was made and the barn was set out in pieces when all of the neighbors were gathered and it was put up in a day. The other boards were even pre painted was it was a painted structure when completed.
