We're having some sun finally today and the green is a tad behind or we actually are having a "spring" the whitetail deer are all over my hill here as its literally the only forage around right now.

Sure wish it looked like that here...still some snow, everything else is brown, and hay supplies are getting low!

Trade ya!Sitting in the kitchen right now eating lunch...The COLD wind is blowing 50-60 mph, snow is going sideways, house is shakeing......

Sounds like you're so happy you could just go out and shoot someone. Ooops- they're taking your guns away, too......

The grass in Middle Tennessee is finally beginning to green-up also. We have had a very late Spring so it is later than usual. I'm still feeding a small amount of hay to the herd, but I'm weaning them off of it.

Not only is the grass greening up, but the output from the cows is greening-up also. That's a good sign.

"Grass is trying to grow but mostly mud and more rain here in MidMich"

Ditto. If it hasn't gotten to you yet, more is on the way.
Complete with thunder and lightening this afternoon.
Makes it miserable to get out and get anything done.

I spent the whole morning working with NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service)on my grazing plan. I have sub fenced little over 50 acres into 17 pastures. Then will do a big rotation program. GOV???? Sometimes I wonder what I got started. Anyway Grass is just started to turn green. I'm going to try and stay off it until May 25th.

I used to call it Pasture Day. The day that it was up to 5 inches and I put them out. It was almost always April 20th or 21st.

I envy you only thing green at my place is the hay I have been buying.Oh well we have lots of moisture and more coming, has to be better than last year.Scott

Did mine with NRCS about 6 or 8 years ago. Cows usually had the whole pasture down to brown dirt by winter, and it didn't even star to look green until June or July, and then for a month or so. It took four or five years, but it's green almost all year now, and grazed until December or January before they go into a sacrifice pasture for the winter and full time hay. I was skeptical at first, but rotational grazing works....
