Anyone know where to purchase an organic rodent deterrent? I got a sales brochure in the mail listing some dr=eterrent but misplaced it. I have rodents burrowing under rd bales and cutting the Netwrap. I want to spread something out between the bale rows. Thanks,Jim

It cost a couple bucks, but get Farm Show on CD. It
shows all their back issues, and there was a lady
who made mouse deterrent out of scented corn cobs.
They were developed to prevent mice in the combine.

We have about 2 dozen organic controllers.

I swear they get into farming the rodents and keep a breeding
herd around for future hunting, but they sure knocked down
the mess I had around here.

At one time I also subscribed to the theory that having cats around would control the rodents, and if you have a large enough farming operation, I still think it is a very good idea. It did not work for me though because I found that in order to keep the cats at home, I had to feed them, and the cat food attracted racoons and o'possums. The 'coons and 'possums quickly turned into way more of a problem than what a few rats and mice amounted to, so I stopped feeding the cats. The cats all migrated to better feeding grounds at one of several neighbors, and now I no longer have a problem with 'coons or 'possums.

For what it's worth, the rats and mice that still come for a visit DO get fed rather generously.

Raw Tobacco..Had problems with mice in a new house in new construction area. got some twist tobacco and broke it into pieces..then spread out all over the insulation in my attic... no more problems.. I have also used this in my baler tool been to keep them from building in them when not in use.

A dozen hungry cats will solve that problem.
Do not feed the cats any food. The mice will be breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks too.

Wow! That is one lucky cat. Had a friend lose a golden retriever to a copperhead bite.

We killed one close to the house several years ago. It measured 27 inches.

peppermint extract or oil is one that works, not sure how long it lasts they hate it, also Pine, shavings and the like, its poison to them, I believe they don't like that as well, read that somewhere some time back.

We have cats all around here, they roam the fields and the underbrush, but there are so many white footed mice, voles/meadow mice, the latter don't come in the house but the other operates at night, and there is just no way even with all the owls, coyotes, weasel, and what have you + the cats they just prosper, and its worse when you have habitat for them. I do like the bucket and beverage can on a stick, that could put a dent in them, I've done it hear, has not been one in the house in months til last night, trap will nail him tonight.

Ferrets. You need a pair, elevate their cage and save the poop. Put said nuggets anywhere you suspect rats to be. Any holes in the ground(whether it s a possum or rat nest) drop a cup of caustic soda chips in and pack some dirt in on top. Eventually they gone.

i got 3 or 4 different females that have their litters under/between bales all the time...stays warm in there during Texas winters.
