Mushrooms any body finding them yet???

Time for morels here, but my best patch was discovered by turkeys 2 years ago. Took a look yesterday, lots of scratching. Better would be to bag turkey to go WITH morels.

A common word in Virginia is merkles. Never heard morales before but this time of year there's only one mushroom up. Took the damn turkeys decades to find my patch.

We found a couple doz. today . Most are small . It is plenty wet but the temps. are swinging to much . yesterday it was 82 today 39 and seen a few snowflakes while we were out , maybe next week .

Not any here yet old, to cold, I guess. We had a ice storm last Friday, a week ago today,,,today we hit 70 +_ now it's very windy and pouring! Up and down weather.

So how do you know which ones you can eat and wich ones are a slow painful death??????
Im scared of the damn thinks

4010guy, if the others learned like I did, we were shown by our family.
I'm sure there's tons of info on the internet, excluding the psychedelic ones!
We normally pick white and black Morales and beefsteaks.
Actually might be a good topic to start though!
You could get pictures of them all.

That is one of the things that I truly miss, along with 4 definate seasons, and good catfish.I left Grafton Illinois in the fall of 79, to imagrate to the Seattle area, and work for Boeing. The money has been good, and the people and weather is tollerable, but I sure miss Morells in the spring, catfish from the mississippi, fried squirel in the fall, and real summer heat. Tomatoes done a lot better back home also!

Ralph, I sure feel for ya, as you seem to sum up life on the river real good!!!! I was raised on the old Mississippi and still live in Alton. Picked few morales yesterday, had catfish for dinner.....the heat last year was almost unbearable though, tomatoes burnt up,,, can't wait for squirrel season......

Found 7 little grays this morning at one of my usual spots in the BoCoMo area. Rich I would think you being a little South - your season should be a couple days ahead of us folks around Columbia. I expect next weekend to be the big weekend in our area. My back is killing me from bending over for an hour looking. Little rascals are hard to see.
