Ford dump truck question

I'M thinking of buying a ford dump with a 6.2 gas automatic. I need to tow a trailer about 12,000lbs. Think this truck is up to my expections?

Will it get it done? Yes it will. Just don't expect to get there in a hurry. And the gas is going to kill you. But if using rarely you can cope with the cost. A lot of work got done by those old mules back in the day.

the rear axle ratio will make a big difference on towing power.
I tow a 12000# 5th wheel with a 6.o gmc with 4.11 rears---pulls great

The 6.2 gas engine is not the killer the Auto transmission makes the truck something that just will not sell. At auctions they go for next to nothing. Uses too much gas and if you have transmission problems expensive to fix.

Test drove the Gmc it had 4 11 rear with a 6.0 had a bit more power than the ford with the 4 30 rear. the ford looked a bit tougher and the gvw was 14,000. the gmc was 13,200 I think. Can't get a stick anymore.
