Value of potato digger?

A friend of mine has an IH potato digger sitting in his woods and was wondering if it has value over scrap. I looked at it and it is complete except for the front wheels and is in working order. It is actually very straight and even has the funnel thing in the rear to row the taters. All the gears are there and loose and all the chain is there. Even the levers are loose and straight. I didn't have a camera so no pics yet. It's in East central Mn.

PTO or ground drive? Makes a big difference.

Wengers always seems to have a decent PTO for sale of $2K or so.

Ground drives seem to run $3-500 if usable.

I just gave $1K for a JD pto with 2 new aprons and a milk crate of spares, I felt like I stole it. Lots of demand out there, the back up bidders were from 250 miles away, several others from 50-100. Like anything else right now there is little play money out in the real world.

Either beats the heck out of using a fork.

Horse pull ground drive steel wheel or tractor powered rubber tired? 2 year ago Amish friend gave what I thought was way too much for a partial there steel wheel model and I don't think he has gotten it to work yet. Could you get it to western Ohio? Lots of produce grown locally.

It didn't take long for Wenger's to sell this Oliver potato digger. I wish I had one when I grew a lot of potatoes. Hal
