Wheat Farmer asked do they mean anything. I know originally each one meant something different to the Pennsylvania Dutch. Any more I'm not so sure, mostly for decorations.

When we were in upstate NY last year I noticed a lot of large stars on buildings, someone said it meant a family member was in the military overseas.

Very nice barns, with the stone foundations. I know one, near me, on old Route 66, beautiful barn and handsome old first story of stone, have watched it over the years collapse, no maintenance. Shame.

Barn stars are an Amish Good fortune symbol. Now many peple around Amish country have them on their houses also.
