chisel plow storage

Just wondering which way is best for storage whether to park my chisel plow lowered so the wheels are off the ground to get the weight off them or let it sit raised with the weight on wheels. Wondering for sake of the tires.

The tires will last longer on the ground than the rusting points in the ground. Park it in the transport mode, and take the cyl inside so it wont rust and pit in the weather.

I personally believe it is better to lower it to the ground so the weight is off the tires. That way the lift cylinder is retracted too. A little grease on the exposed part of the cylinder will protect it, though a chromed cylinder will last a long time stored just as it is. Where you store it is probably more important than how you store it. Parking it on hard ground is better to me than dragging it out in the tree grove and letting it settle into the sod. Many people in southern MN or Iowa will shed their tillage equipment. That is why I like to buy used stuff in that part of the world! Most owners manuals will say to take the weight off of tires when in storage.
