OY/battery powered weed eater

We bought a worx with 2 batteries. The nice thing about them is that you get lots of rest time either walking back and forth charging the batteries or waiting for them to charge. We now have an electric one that the better half really enjoyes. Bud

SWMBO ;has a Ryobi. Had it for a couple years. Seems to do well a battery will last as long as she will. I like it cause its queit. Not like a commercial unit but does good around the house and buildings.

Black and Decker Grasshog with 2 batteries. We have had it 2 years. Telescoping handle, self cutting string which you don't have to bash on the ground. Corey can almost get all the way around the yard and the house on one battery. We have had it 2 years. Beats the held out of the gas Stihl trimmer. It was more complicated to start than a T38!

Nancy,

We bought a Worx cordless... it will do at least half the building site on one charge - which I don't think is too bad, since we are trimming a lot of tough Quack grass.

Though recharging is a bit of an inconvenience, I really like it because it is light weight and has a highly adjustable handle - can be adjusted for height and also for the angle in which you hold it.

Gas powered units are all too big, long, heavy for me.

We used to have a corded electric unit, but it gets to be a lot of extension cord you are pulling around to get out behind the barn and other outbuildings.

We bought the B&D 20 volt weed eater with the lithium battery. We have been pleased with it for light to moderate use. The battery also fits a couple of other things we have so long use is not a problem.

4 years ago I bought a 24 volt Weed eater brand from Walmart. Been the best trimmer I have owned, the battery is built in, it is balanced good.

We bought a 24 volt lithium Toro weed eater. We really like it, we had a gas weed eater before and got tired of pulling the cord. We enjoy our new weed eater much more.

My wife just bought a Black & Decker battery powered weed eater. She loves it and it comes with (2) 20 volt batteries. She bought it at Walmart. Hal

This is a bit off-topic. If you have a large area to trim Stihl and other manufacturers do make electric start string trimmers.

Nancy Wife had two WORX and they are junk compared to the Black & Decker. She has two batteries and can just do all she wants between the tow batteries. I do the mowing and she loves the weed eating with the B&D lighter and faster than the worx that she bought of TV.

We have 2 b&d 18v trimmers the first my wife bought 8 yrs ago before we married. Bought another so we keep them in different buildings easier to have 2. They are great for the around the house trim but I keep 2 gas stihls also for the heavier stuff. I like the battery stuff especially my craftsman tools.

Nancy, My Mother got the 18v B&D a couple years ago, one battery is no good now, and she really only got about 15-20 minutes per battery before they were due for charge so instead of $45 for another battery, she is looking into either the Ryobi or Toro as we have heard the batteries last longer and hold a charge longer.

Buy it from a big box store. Get it home and try to wear it out quick. If it works keep it, otherwise take it back.

I have my first experience with Lithium Batteries, the green ones. Not a battery rocket scientist, but Lithium apparently runs a pretty straight discharge line until it in dead then falls rapidly. A regular Ni-cad has a pretty good slope and a memory and this problem and that problem. I really, really, like their performance.

A weed eater with a Lithium battery (remember tomato worm green) just might be your ticket.

They use a different battery charger that has to be designed for Lithium....special requirement batteries like the Boeing Dreamliner problem. Don't fear them, just get the right equipment to charge them. BB store has that too.

Good luck and let us hear from you.
