I found an edger not to far from my place, I should be able to fix it up and make good use of it.

Go for it. It's a lot easier edging flitches on an edger than it is on a sawmill.

Water in engine due to open exhaust pipe, uncovered?

Looks like it's in good shape. Does it feed from the opposite side in the first pic, the side with the wood floor?

Flat head gas Chyrsler or continal ? I am sure you will make it run. I have a big bellsaw edger electric powered. I kind get in groves sometime I just keep flipping the log till I get it square and go to work on the boards then next time I hook up the edger. Lots depends on how much help you have and what you are wanting to saw. That looks like it was a nice machine when it was new. Mine has an adjustable blade on the one side. Looks like that one just cuts what ever you kick in.

Looks like a Continental or a Hercules, either one is a good reliable engine. Just may take some work to get it running.

Looks pretty solid, I bet it wont take you too long it have it up and running. Probably by Tuesday if I had to bet!!!

For us dummies that don't run a saw mill, how to you square the board as you start to feed it in? Assume there are guides somewhere til the rollers pinch the piece.

my guess is it feeds from the side with no floor,..looks like anti-kickback fingers

Is that a 124, 140 or 162 cu in Continental ?? At least it appears to be one or the other judging by the distributer and starter location.

I just traded some stuff for an unpowered edger and haven't gotton back to pick it up yet......

I guess it's not unpowered, it's set up for a flat belt.....

I dont know anything about this edger, I was hopeing to be working on it today but it started raining last night and hasnt quit, I aint skeered of the rain but I cant get it home because of the mud. I think this will be an interesting project once I get it in my shop :wink:
