Canada Day pics.

Made the 6 hour drive to spend the day in the captial. Always wanted to but never found the time. I normally don't like big gatherings, but it actually turned out to be a great day. Didn't get to the spot we wanted to for the fireworks, but they still weren't bad. Just something about being in Ottawa on Canada Day. Few pics. Happy 146th Birthday Canada.

We live in the lower part of NY state but have been
there a number of times. Only once in the summer
(don't miss the farmers market) but we love
Winterlude in February. We skated the canal saw all
the ice sculptures and mostly enjoyed the fun spirit
and friendly people.

6 hours? Heck, I lived 3 times closer than that... and I was in the states!
Did you ever go up the bell tower? Kinda... clostraphobic? Above the clockworks, so really a small space for an elevator full of tourists. I like the idea of low ceilings and narrow stairs, keeps the elected officials humble, hard for them to act like aristocrats when they bump into the opposition on the landing of the stairs, like 2 kids running to the only bathroom...
